Straight to Hell (Lilith Straight #1) by Michelle Scott

GoodReads Summary: The moment Lilith Straight dies, the Devil appears to claim her soul and cash in on a family curse. Now, Lilith has no choice but to work for him. The job is bad, the boss is worse and she can’t imagine how she’ll explain her new reincarnation to her eight-year-old daughter. But then an arrogant, yet oh so yummy, incubus shows up…and hell heats up just a little more.

My Views: When I started this book, it seemed really interesting. It had a new concept, I was intrigued and the book was funny. I was hoping to love it. But about halfway through the book, it went spiraling downward for me. The book ceased to be funny, it turned serious. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying a book has to be completely funny but some fun + some seriousness = works for me. But the first part of the book is all funny while the latter is all serious. It just somehow broke my mood. The focus completely shifted from the idea of hell and being a demon to thinking about conscience or doing random things to prove herself as a demon. And then some side characters which did not need to be a part of this book were there, thus digressing from the original story.

I started this book very enthusiastically, finished half in a sitting but after that I had to struggle to finish it. However, many people have loved this, who knows you might!

2.5/5 stars – Somewhere between ‘It was OK’ and ‘I liked it’
