Goodreads Summary: Legion of Bats—They were all different, but together they changed the world
In a world governed by fear and corruption, a baby, Zoe Masterson, was born and immediately targeted for death. Hidden away in the rural West Virginia town of Tanner, Zoe grows up feeling like an outsider—always just a little bit different from the people around her. As bad becomes worse, she is arrested for arson and a murder she didn’t commit. She is taken to a mental hospital, where she discovers nothings is as it seems and her destiny awaits her. Zoe quickly becomes caught in a web of strange abilities, politics, murder, discrimination, and forbidden love. Will she be able to bring a government to its knees in order to have the one person who matters most to her?
My Views: This was a riveting book. It takes you in from its very first page and keeps you bound till the end. Fast-paced, leaving no room for taking a breath, this book would appeal to paranormal lovers. But since I am not much of a paranormal lover and inspite of that loved this book, I may as well say everyone should give this book a chance.
This is a writing debut (published) by the author Shadow Stephens and she has done a mind-blowing job with her very first book. There is a lot of action in here, not to forget enough of romance and thrill.
There is no fault that I can find with this book. I can always say that maybe this could have been done in conjuction with that, but then that would be my personal wish for what to read rather than something missing from the book.
Throughout the book, I kept wondering about the title. So don’t fret if you find yourself doing the same because the reason for the title is revealed towards the end of the book.
The character building is beautiful, right from the central character of Zoe. I love myself a strong woman who can kick some ass (don’t take it otherwise. 😉 ). Then there is Hayyel, the girl who can flip her hair with ease, wear four inch heels and kill a man in a wink. I love her! 🙂 Well, I can’t tell you about all the characters but they are all very well built (pun intended).
The plot is innovative, novel and enthralling. This was a one-sitting book for me. You won’t want to read it in brakes even though it’s long.
In all, pick this one up someday for a fast-paced read.
